SAS Renewal Licenses update [March 5 , 2008] - NCSU has begun receiving renewal licenses. We are working now to make them available for download. We anticipate that you will be able to download renewal SAS licenses beginning the week of March 17th. Messages will be posted here and sent out in the ncsu-sas-users list when the licenses are available for download. SAS Renewal Licenses update [February 15 , 2008] - NCSU has not received renewal licenses from SAS yet. This effects JMP and SAS. You will be seeing messages like: SAS Renewal Licenses update [ January, 2008] - At this time, grant renewal paperwork has been forwarded to the NCSU Purchasing Department for signatures. Assuming this goes as expected, we will return the paperwork to SAS for counter signatures as soon as we receive it. Next, SAS will send NCSU the licenses. NCSU will update the license download tool to contain the new licenses and finally, everyone can download their license. Anticipate this will take about a month in all. [January 17, 2008] - NCSU has signed the grant amendment and it has been faxed back to SAS. Next steps are outlined below. SAS Renewal Licenses Although expiring at the end of this year, SAS & JMP products will continue to work thru March 2008. New Licenses will be available for download before March 2008, but are not currently available. More information will be posted as it becomes available. StatTransfer software available in the NCSU Libraries The Libraries has acquired a utility software called StatTransfer that enables translations of setup files from one statistical software's format to another. The major packages are available, of course--SPSS, SAS, Stata-- but many others, too. See http://www.stattransfer.com/ for more information. StatTransfer is installed on the GIS machine in the Reference area on the first floor, east wing of D. H. Hill Library. Please feel free to refer students and faculty. They will need to ask a reference librarian to be logged in. JMP 7 for Windows available soon at NCSU [ June 1, 2007] -JMP 7 for Windows has been received. It will be available for download early June. JMP7 for Macintosh is not yet available. Likewise, JMP Genomics 3.0 is also not yet available.
2007 renewal licenses SAS Media Distribution - update [ Feb 14, 2007 ] ITD's media distribution service is back in business, but running slower than normal. Requests for SAS software CDs are being filled as quickly as possible, but please expect delays. SAS Media Distribution [ Jan 23, 2007 ] Public Message:
Due to technical difficulties, ITD's media distribution service will be
down until further notice. Since many campus users get copies of SAS by
this method, they should be aware of other alternatives to CD sets: Limited number of JMP Genomics Licenses available. [ update Oct 2006 ] - 50 licenses for JMP Genomics are now available to NC State faculty, staff or students who need this software. Additionally, the software can be accessed using remote desktop to the Virtual Computing Lab (VCL). [ update: oct 2006 ] - Plan to distribute to those who have requested the software by Mid-October. Complete the "Request Software" option specifying JMP Genomics in the Other category to request the software. NCSU has 50 licenses. [ august 2006 ] - At 10am on Monday, August 14th, the online form that NC State faculty, staff, and students use to request SAS software was changed to introduce a new method of obtaining software and licenses. JMP 6.0.2 available for request [ august 2006 ] - UPDATE: The JMP 6.0.2 CD is available. Likewise, the updater, to update from JMP 6.0 to JMP 6.0.2 is also available. Click HERE for more information. [ august 2006 ] - ITD has received the updated JMP 6.0.2 CDs and are currently creating the hybrid CD that will contain both the Windows & Macintosh versions of this update to be distributed through the helpdesk. Anticipated release is August 18, 2006.
NC State and SAS to Collaborate on Data Analytics Education
At an executive breakfast, North Carolina State University Chancellor James Oblinger and Jim Goodnight, CEO of SAS, announced an initiative to create a new graduate degree program in the rapidly expanding field of data analytics. The new Analytics Initiative – led by Dr. Michael Rappa, Alan T. Dickson Distinguished University Professor – proposes an intensive one-year professional master’s degree that will give students an understanding of analytical concepts and hands-on experience with the same powerful tools used in industry today. The degree program will be organized as part of the proposed Institute for Advanced Analytics, to be located on NC State’s Centennial Campus. (read more) ** June 2006 - still the same situation with the Genomics software [ march 2006 ] - NC State University does NOT currently license JMP Genomics software. This software (http://www.jmp.com/software/genomics.shtml), which has just recently been released commercially, is currently only found on campus in the hands of SAS Early Adopters and SAS Development Partners; it is NOT available to the whole campus at this point. 2006 License and Software Now Available! We're pleased to announce that license updates are currently available. All updates can be downloaded via the update form which you access here by clicking on the Updates link. Updates are limited to NCSU affiliated individuals, so you will need your unity ID and password to obtain an updated license. Instructions for applying the license updates are also available on the products page. Please send email to sas_help@ncsu.edu if you have questions, can't find a particular license or have trouble applying your license. SAS Grants NCSU a 1 year extension on 2000 Grant NCSU will receive a grant amendment this year extending the year 2000 SAS Grant until Dec 31st, 2006 (1 year).
