Instructions for Downloading SAS 9.1.3

  1. Click on 'Request Software'

  2. click 'request software' link

  3. Enter your Unity ID and password as necessary
  4. Click on 'Products Included' to get more information.
  5. Click on 'Get It Now' to begin the download process.

  6. click 'available for download or through VCL' to download SAS 9.1.3

  7. Follow the directions : Step 1: to get the license first, then Step 2: to download the software, then Step 3: install the software. Please printout these download installation instructions if needed.

STEP1 : Request a License

    • complete the form
      • select the correct license
      • place a checkmark in the License Agreement box
      • submit your request
    • download your license (make note of the location)

STEP2 : download the actual SAS program, a self extracting file.

The download time depends on your connection speed.

Be sure to make note of your download location.

When the download is complete...

STEP 3: Follow the Installation Instructions

NOTE: if you have Windows VISTA operating system you MUST use the compatibility wizard to install SAS. Instructions are here: http://sas.ncsu.edu/products/instructions/v913vista_sas_install.pdf

  1. Double Click on the ‘install_SAS.exe’ file you just downloaded. It will extract the necessary files to your c:\temp directory, (you may change this location by typing a different path in the 'Extract to' box) when you click on Start or OK (depends on your locally installed .zip program)

  3. The installation process will begin automatically when extracting is complete.
  4. Verify System Requirements first and then Install SAS Software

  5. install English version

    The 'Verify System Requirements' wizard will check your computer for the required components and, with your approval, install any missing ones.

    After all required components are installed you be returned to the main menu. Choose Install SAS Software and begin installing SAS (Step 3 in the picture above).

    When installing the SAS software, you will be prompted to provide the license or "SAS Installation Data" file that you downloaded in the first step.

    Use the Browse button to navigate to the place that you saved the SAS Installation Data (license file)

  6. You will next be prompted for data folder location and a series of temporary folder creations. If you would like a different default location then you can edit it, otherwise click Next.

  7. The Select Components Windows allows you to choose the products that will be installed.  Press the plus box next to SAS 9.1 to see all available products.

    BASE SAS  SAS/AF® SAS/ASSIST®
    SAS/CONNECT® SAS/EIS® SAS/ETS®
    SAS/FSP® SAS/GIS® SAS/GRAPH®
    SAS/IML® SAS/INSIGHT® SAS/LAB®
    SAS/OR® SAS/QC® SAS/SHARE®
    SAS/SPECTRAVIEW® SAS/STAT® SAS/IntrNet®
    SAS/Warehouse Administrator Enterprise Reporter SAS Systems Enterprise Miner Client Solution (including Text Miner)
    SAS/Genetics SAS/ACCESS® (to DB2, Oracle, Sybase-SQL Server, PC File Formats, ODBC and OLE DB)

  8. SAS will now automatically finish installing

  9. Delete the files in C:\temp\NCSU_TR when you are done if you want to regain that space
